Coming of Age
Formålet med dette forløb er at introducere eleverne til og træne dem i at give en nuanceret, sammenhængende mundtlig og skriftlig fremstilling af alment kendte og faglige emner på et flydende og hovedsageligt korrekt engelsk.
Desuden er formålet at træne eleverne i at gøre rede for indhold og synspunkter i forskellige typer engelsksprogede tekster, i særdeleshed film, med anvendelse af faglig terminologi for at kunne demonstrere indsigt i fagets identitet og metoder.

Fra læreplanen: Formålet med engelsk er, at eleverne opnår viden om britiske, amerikanske og andre engelsksprogede landes samfundsforhold og kulturer, så deres forståelse af egen kulturbaggrund dermed udvikles. Ligeledes er formålet med faget at skabe grundlag for, at eleverne kan kommunikere på tværs af kulturelle grænser.
Formålet med forløbet har derfor været, at undervisningen i fagets forskellige discipliner bidrager til at udvikle elevernes sproglige, kulturelle og æstetiske viden og bevidsthed, og dermed deres generelle studie-kompetence.
Formålet med retorik-forløbet, som tager udgangspunkt tre taler, er at se på hvordan sprog er magt, og herudover at skabe bevidsthed om retoriske greb og deres effekt.
Én britisk tale og to amerikanske taler (+ kort uddrag af JFK's Ask not what your country can do for you) giver indblik i hhv. britisk og amerikansk identitetsopfattelse og værdier, både nutidige og historiske.
Vi har lavet retoriske analyser med fokus på appelformerne og repetition (anaphor), metafor og allitteration

The American Dream
OPGIVES TIL EKSAMEN
Purpose:
To reach an understanding of some of the many ways in which it is possible to define the American Dream.
In the process of uncovering this concept, we look into American history to gain an understanding of:
- the dreams and values of the first settlers
- the content and importance of the Declaration of Independence
- the heritage from Martin Luther King, including his references in "I Have a Dream" to The Declaration of Independence, The Emancipation Declaration and Lincoln´s Gettysburg Address.

Purpose:
To look into the contemporary race issue in the United States relating to police violence and racism. The focal point of the topic is the novel "The Hate U Give" by Angie Thomas. The novel is placed in a historical as well as a contemporary context.

Purpose:
The main purpose has been to reach an understanding of some of the basic characteristics of the nature of colonialism, exemplified by looking at Britain's rule in India. Special focus has been placed on different British attitudes to the role of the British in their colonies.
