Short Stories with a Twist (1.hf)
This course will focus on short stories with a twist. We will analyse and interpret short stories with a focus on the specific twist in each story. We will look at analytical terms such as characterisation, setting, atmosphere, point of view, themes and message. We also look at how the author leaves hints in the story (foreshadowing) and builds suspense throughout the story which leads to a climax and a surprising twist in the end.
At the end of this course, the students will be asked (in groups) to write a short story of their own with a focus on suspense and atmosphere and with a surprising twist in the end.

Political Activism (1.hf)
Political Activism (Teens Who Changed the World: Political Activism and Activists in the 21st Century)
This course will focus on political activism in the 21st century, primarily in the US. In particular, we will focus on young people who have changed the world through different forms of political activism. We will discuss how the students themselves can challenge norms and bring about cultural, social and political change in the world. Through analyzing texts (mainly speeches), the students will learn about topics such as Black Lives Matter, school shootings, climate change, and gender equality. Furthermore, this course will enable students to communicate about political and social activism across borders.
The students will learn how to analyse and interpret a speech focusing on the use of rhetorical devices and modes of appeal in the speech as well as Toulmin’s model of argumentation and discourse analysis. The course will end with the students writing their own speeches.

The Caribbean Islands (EKSAMENSFORLØB)

Aspects of Britain (EKSAMENSFORLØB)
Undervisningsbeskrivelse:
