Grundforløbet. Engelsk. What's English
Der arbejdes med kompendiet What's English.
Formål:
Formålet med dette forløb er hovedsageligt at introducere eleverne til engelskfagets genstandsområder: sprog, historie, samfundsforhold og litterære tekster/ikke-litterære tekster og mediestof. Vi arbejder med Englands rolle som kolonimagt, og med hvordan det har påvirket Storbritannien og resten af verden gennem tiden. Eleverne introduceres gradvist til diverse analysemodeller og tilgange til tekstarbejdet.
Faglige mål:
– kommunikationsstrategier, standardsprog og variation
– det engelske sprog anvendt som globalt lingua franca
– forskellige typer nyere litterære tekster, ikke-litterære tekster og mediestof, herunder film
– tekstanalytiske begreber
– væsentlige historiske, kulturelle og samfundsmæssige forhold i Storbritannien
– historiske og aktuelle forhold i andre engelsksprogede regioner.

Formål:
Hensigten med dette forløb er at undersøge temaet “Love”. Vi har fokus på romantisk kærlighed, kærlighed mellem forældre og børn og kærlighed mellem venner. Vi læser og analyserer tekster der portrætterer kærlighed gennem forskellige genrer og fra forskellige vinkler og tidsperioder.

The Island of Ireland.
Dette forløb har indledningsvis haft fokus på The Irish Revolutionary Period (1916-1923) hvor eleverne har researchet og holdt oplæg om tiden før 1916, fra 1916-1921, og fra 1921-1922. Derudover har eleverne beskæftiget sig med problematikken omkring Northern Ireland.
Materialet har været en blanding af Webquest, short stories, digte/sanganalyse, og film analyse.
Derudover har vi læst værket 'Normal People' af Sally Rooney.

Formål:
This course will focus on American beliefs, ideals, and social conditions ranging from the early settlers to the political climate today.
We will discuss how history has shaped the US, how different immigration waves are inseparable from America today, and how the American dream can differ depending on your social conditions. Through different texts, the students will learn about topics such as American Exceptionalism, The Frontier, and different aspects of Black history. Task 2: Presidential Playlist – Pick a U.S. President and create a playlist of 3 songs that represent their era and challenges, with explanations.
Task 3: If the USA were a person: Write a character profile of the USA: personality, hobbies, strengths, flaws…think of what you know so far about American history.
+ create a body statue together of something very American that the other groups need to guess.

Eleverne arbejder fortsat med essay-skriving.
Formålet med dette forløb er at undersøge Storbritanniens rolle som kolonimagt og i tiden efter dekoloniseringen. Vi fokuserer indledningsvis på imperialisme og kolonisering, og globalt engelsk; engelsk som lingua franca. Herefter skifter fokus til nutidens Storbritannien og det multikulturelle samfund og fattigdom samt britisk musikhistorie.
Afslutningsvis tager vi et lille kig på én af en af Shakespeares sonnetter.

Dette mindre forløb beskæftiger sig med True Crime indenfor forskellige medier.
Her lærer eleverne om genren True Crime samt at bruge 'narrative non-fiction' analyse på en podcast.
Eleverne vælger selv en True Crime Podcast eller afsnit fra en serie, de vil analysere og fremlægge i grupper.
Afslutningsvis diskuterer vi etiske problemstillinger vedr. True Crime genren.
