Beskrivelse af de enkelte undervisningsforløb (1 skema for hvert forløb)
Titel 1 The American Dream

In this course we have focused on the notion of the American Dream. We have looked at the American Consitution and defined how the American Dream aligns with the general mindset of the American citizen. We have read about several American 'dreamers' - i.e. people who have lived the dream - and gone from the bottom to the top of the 'food chain'.

The students have worked with web questing, group work with work questions/tasks, and prepared group presentations on pre-chosen 'dreamers'.

During the course we have both read articles/historical accounts on the American Dream and the Constitution, but have also watched videos and a film on the subject.

Titel 2 Documentaries

A factual course on documentaries. We will follow the four modus of the documentary film, as proposed by Bill Nichols in his work from 2001 "Introduction to Documentary". He lists four types: The classic, the poetic, the observing, and the interactive documentary. In addition, we'll primarily look for typical signs of authenticity and signs of fiction.

The purpose of the course is to showcase the difference between factuality and fiction, and to show some general traits of the documentary genre. We will also do a few practical tasks, where the students have to film and edit a short documentary sequence.

We will aspire to recognise and know the different styles of documentary, as well as being able to spot relevant signs of authenticity and signs of fiction.
