In this theme, we'll examine how accent and identity connect: how your accent reveals something about who you are, and how it's possible to (re)claim your identity through your accent. But what's the difference between accent and dialect? standard vs nonstandard dialect? what's phonetics? why don't we pronounce the way we spell? why do we judge people based on their accents? which accents are the most intelligble? what is the difference between how a native speaker speaks english from the way in which a nonnative does?is it possible to have a heavy accent and still be a "good" English speaker? Is it even possible to hear one's own accent? are we, as Danes, intelligble in English?
We'll explore the emergence of the English, American, Canadian and Australian accents and dialects, while examining some general tendencies to (and exceptions) how accents and dialcets change over time.
Then we'll dive into the concept of "accentism" and how that is connected to social class in the UK, stereotyopes on film and how Star Wars revolutionised that by casting a Mexian actor, with a Mexican accent, as the Hero of Rogue 1.
We'll explore the regional accent of NY, Code-switching in LND (minority vs. majority: who should accommdate whom?).
Finally, we examine the term: Lingua Franca and talk about the term's origin and how and why English has become a global language. what characterises the English that are used by nonnative speakers? how come they are easier to understand than native speakers and why does understanding go down if a native speaker enter their conversation? what is "good" and what is "bad" english? and what does it take in in order to understand and be understood? and what will happen with English in the future?

Exam topic: Crime: True and Fiction
I dette forløb har vi arbejdet med forbrydelser som portrætteret i true crime og crime fiction.
Vi lagde ud med at undersøge crime fiction som genre og læste værket "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time". I analysen af værket lagde vi vægt på at undersøge typiske genretræk (fx red herring, motive, suspects osv.) samt diskuterede på hvilke måder bogen adskiller sig fra andre mere klassiske eksempler på crime fiction, herunder Sherlock Holmes, som vi også har læst korte uddrag af.
Herefter arbejdede vi med True Crime med fokus på analyse af fakta- og fiktionskoder dokumentarer og dokudrama. Derudover har vi undersøgt hvorfor genren er så populær, og diskuteret det etiske aspekt i, at portrættere virkelige forbrydelser med henblik på at underholde.

I dette tværfaglige SRO-forløb har engelsk i samarbejde med samfundsfag belyst social og økonomisk ulighed i USA.
I engelsk har vi først haft fokus på begrebsafklaring af konceptet om den amerikanske drøm, samt undersøgt den historiske kontekst og udvikling fra nationens grundlæggelse til i dag.
Vi har analyseret forskellige tekster (fiction og non-fiction) der relaterer til emnet og belyser det fra flere sider.
I forbindelse med den skriftlige opgave har der været særlig fokus på at formulere problemstillinger og underspørgsmål, samt at skrive en diskussion. Derudover har der også været fokus på fagets metoder og informationssøgning.

I dette forløb har vi arbejdet med Første Verdenskrig med fokus på poesi set fra et britisk perspektiv. Vi har læst flere digte, som primært blev brugt til at belyse den britiske befolknings tankegang før, under og efter krigen. Vi har også arbejdet med at skabe et kort historisk overblik over, hvad der forårsagede krigens begyndelse og afslutning.
Eleverne har arbejdet med deres analytiske færdigheder gennem analyse af poesi, hvor størstedelen af forløbet har bestået af gruppearbejde, klassediskussioner, web research og gruppepræsentationer. Vi har også haft fokus på analyse af skønlitteratur fra den modernistiske periode.

I dette forløb har vi sat fokus på Indien.
Vi har undersøgt landet ud fra en mere nutidig kontekst med fokus på kønsroller og skønhedsidealer (pigmentocracy).
Vi har desuden undersøgt vestens syn på folk fra "Orienten" (Orientalism), og har i den forbindelse brugt talen "The Danger of a single story" til mere generelt at tale om problemet ved stereotyper, og hvorfor nuanceret repræsentation af andre kulturer i litteratur er vigtigt.
Vi har desuden talt om det engelske sprogs status i Indien; både som et officielt sprog i fx politik og uddannelsesøjemed, men også som lingua franca.

The Boy Crisis and Beyond: Rethinking gender roles
Dette forløb har sat fokus på hvordan opfattelser af kønsroller er og har været i fortiden. Forløbet tog udgangspunkt i den såkaldte "boy crisis", et koncept der er introduceret af kønsforskeren Warren Farrell, og som undersøger årsager til at amerikanske drenge halter bagefter på forskellige parametre såsom uddannelse, psykisk og fysisk helbred.
Eleverne skulle selv undersøge en af de fire bølger af feminisme og fremlægge for hinanden.
Derudover har vi undersøgt hvordan forestillinger om køn og særligt maskulinitet er med til at fastlåse mennesker usunde og uhensigtsmæssige roller og relationer.

Forløbet er et litteraturhistorisk forløb, der sætter fokus på følgende perioder og strømninger: The Elizabethan period, Romanticism, minimalism and post-modernism.
Undervejs har vi bl.a. læst uddrag af Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet. Vi har ligeledes diskuteret og sammenlignet hvorledes kærlighed og ægteskab fremstilles i litteraturen i de forskellige perioder.
