Young Outsiders
We have analyzed and interpreted the entire first season of the Netflix series The End of the f***ing World, focusing on how the series portrays adolescence, trauma, and the feelings of being an outsider.
Our focus has been on the analysis of narration (including story and character arcs) and the use of cinematic techniques, having the dual purpose of examining how the series uses minimalist devices to tell its story and what themes it explores.

Family: Fab or F***ed up? (EXAM)
Forløbet har fokus på forskellige fremstillinger af familier, hvor forholdet mellem forældre og børn, samt social arv spiller en rolle. Vi diskuterer blandt andet om familier er et gode (fabulous) eller et onde (fucked up) og på hvilken måde familiemedlemmer påvirker hinanden. Forløbet har også fokus på tekstanalyse af skønlitteratur, film og digte.
The course focuses on different portrayals of families, where the relationship between parents and children, as well as social heritage, plays a role. Among other things, we discuss what makes families fabulous or fucked up, and in what ways family members influence each other. The course also emphasizes text analysis of fiction, film, and poetry.
We include relevant grammar while working with the texts and introduce the three parts of which the written exam consists.

The American Dream and Native Americans (EXAM)
I dette forløb starter vi ud med at undersøge hvordan den amerikanske drøm har det lige nu, efter Præsident Trumps indsættelse 20. januar 2025.
Derefter vil vi undersøge amerikanske værdier (individualism, hard work, self-reliance, materialism, etc.), som disse kom til udtryk historisk set hos puritanerne og senere i forbindelse med 'the pioneers' og udvidelsen af USA vestpå i 1800-tallet (the frontier). I denne sammenhæng ser vi på idéen om Manifest Destiny og ideen om den amerikanske drøm.
Sidste del af forløbet omhandler det moderne USA og strukturel racisme. Vi vil her fokusere på oprindelige amerikanerne.
