Still Life and Vanitas
"Still Life and Vanitas" introduces to the VA process and the use of process portfolio. We start by researching the still life in the Baroque. We make iconografical and iconological analysis of Baroque art works, and observe objects as symbolic bearers of meaning.
We continue the research of the genre in more contemporary styles such as video and see how a young contemporary artist finds inspiration in the baroque: Frederik Næblerøds exhibition at Gl Holtegaard "Maskerade", an exhibition with sculptures, paintings and installations.
The practical task is to make a contemporary still life painting, inspired by the iconography/iconology of the baroque and a video.
