Poetry
In this course, students will be introduced to reading, writing and analysing poetry. The aim is for the students to be able to identify and understand the effects of poetic elements through an analysis of poetry and by applying these to their own poetry.
In this course, we will work with various forms of poetry including sonnets, free verse and rap music. The poems we will read span from the 1597 to 2014.

Tupac Shakur, 'The Rose the Grew from Concrete', (1999)
Eminem, 'Cleanin' Out My Closet' (2002).
We will also watch the film '8 Mile' as part of the course.
