Welcome to your first English unit of the school year!

During this introductory period you will receive an outline of the units we will work with along with any materials you will need. You will also be given practical information about examinations and expectations for our lessons together this year.

As Pre-IB students, you all have very different backgrounds and levels of experience with English so this unit is designed to help you understand the expectations and requirements of the subject and for me to learn as much about you and your English skills as possible.

Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu's novella, Carmilla, is our first work of literature for the Pre-IB course. You must rely heavily on your understanding of the aspects of narrative to help guide you through this novella and aid your investigation of a pivotal piece of literature for the Gothic genre.

Titel 3 NF1: The Campaign

Multi-Modal unit designed around a presidential campaign - during which the students will select their own fictional candidate and attempt to win an election.

Students will complete various interactive tasks (both individually and as groups) which will be designed around developing their non-fiction knowledge and how it can have real life implications.

Knowledge will be drawn upon from rhetoric, media, and politics.
