Beskrivelse af de enkelte undervisningsforløb (1 skema for hvert forløb)

Titel 1	Econ 24/25 August - October: finishing macroeconomics. Macroeconomic objectives - unemployment, low and stable inflation, equitable distribution of income, balance of trade. Practising paper 2 mainly and starting to introduce paper 3. Beginning IA2 work. October --> ?: start global economy. Why do countries trade? Exchange rates, trade theory, advantages of trade, protectionism. Even more focus on paper 3 as we draw closer to finishing the first part of global economics. November/December --> More work on the macro IA required - introducing new concepts that relate to the global economy, including absolute/comparative advantage, 'gains from specialization and trade'-diagram, free trade and protectionism. Awaiting the result of the US election to choose a proper RLE to explore with our new diagrams.
Indhold	Kernestof: Welcome back! We will take a look at this question you did before the summer break: Using real-life examples, evaluate the effectiveness of fiscal policy fighting unemployment. Don't know what we will do here - stay tuned. We will do a paper 2 in class and you'll get your unemployment papers back. Next week: inflation. The rest of 'Nomadland' (the tension is building) and a bit of reading - we'll continue our work with inflation. SL skips the extension part - SL will also not attend the final ½ module. HL extension: the Phillips curve - original and long-run. In what way does the long-run Phillips curve function as a new classical/monetarist critique of government invervention? Please read the whole of chapter 21. Focus: especially the Lorenz curve and gini-coeffient + new concepts. Focus: what is poverty and how is it measured? Focus: Read the pages over quickly and only take notes if it helps your understanding. We will work with study questions in class. Time for writing your paper 2 on Cameroon. Continued IA work Focus: Same homework as Wednesday. I expect everyone to have an article by now. Today, we will finish the macro part of the course. We are not going over the old reading again, so you must have some sort of notes on 1) the role of transfer payments in reducing inequality (figure 1 p. 347), 2) policies to promote equal opportunity through investment in human capital, 3) policies t Focus: SL should read the extensions, too, as it is useful later on. No homework apart from IAs. We will continue global economics. Papers back. Focus on the diagram on p. 360: 'gains from specialization of trade'. Please repeat homework from Monday. I'm not gonna pretend that you are doing a lot of homework tonight due to the IAs, so hopefully everybody can live with 'no homework' and that we will read a bit together in class. I will conduct IA talks with around half of the class. If you are not listed below you are not attending this module. Focus on understanding the arguments for and against trade protectionism. The first 45 minutes of this lesson will proceed as normal with everyone present. The remaining 90 minutes are IA-talks in the order to be announced. You may swap amongs IA talks with the last 9 students. You will get a few minutes to get your presentations ready. Focus: the trade diagram (tariffs). Practice and be ready to draw + explain how a tariff words and how different stakeholders are affected. Two more protectionist measures to go: subsidies and quotas. The diagram for the latter is a bit tricky, so practice this ahead of class. There may be a test today on the homework. Administrative barriers + practice protectionist diagrams. Please finish question 1 in the paper 3 we started Friday. Question 1 means all questions until and including p. 6 :) Focus: economic integration - especially the different degrees of economic integration, trade creation + diversion, what is the role of the WTO? Written work - paper 2 or 3 as our next hand-in. Bring the finished paper from Friday. What is an exchange rate? What is a fixed and a floating exchange rate regime? Aflyst pga. pædagogisk dag. Repeat your homework from last Monday - don't skimp, read it again! Important stuff. I think we are finally ready to talk about exchange rate regimes - be ready. The slog begins. In the weeks to come, you will learn how to endure ... things. THE 17 GOALS \| Sustainable Development Focus: developing countries Read the pages - you do not have to take notes as you will work with note-taking/questions in class. Quite a long read, but many points are basic and there are repetitions. We will work with questions in class. Focus: barriers to development (more) + IA work (20 minutes for the reading, so be ready, and 70 minutes to work on IAs) Focus on strategies to promote growth and development. I'll spend 5 minutes recapping some of the points from your last reading. We need a break from development. I will bring a paper 3 (paper 2 for Julie) to class. Please read pp. 490-499 ahead of class. Homework same as Friday. IA talks for: Hennes, Daniel F, Khalid, Sergiu, Daniel OD, Filip, Baltasar, Emily (in that order).
