Love and Gender(Eksamensemne)
Kernestof:
In contemporary society, we have gotten more freedom to choose our own gender identity, and who we choose to love. We have also come a long way in accepting that specific genders do not necessarily entail a certain sexuality – love and gender have become more fluid. In more and more cultures, it is becoming generally accepted to feel romantic love for any person, no matter their ethnicity, gender, and age – if that age is legal, of course. Yet, there is still a way to go in the fight for who we can love, but we have also come far already. From Shakespeare’s depictions of courtly love to modern depictions of a more gender fluid love, a lot of time has passed, and a lot of fights have been fought for the acceptance of choosing your own gender identity and sexual preference. In this theme, we are going to dive into that development in selected English and American literature and media. We are going to look at how love is depicted, and especially which gender expectations and other expectations that love entails.

When Words Shape Reality (Eksamensemne)
A theme focusing on the power of words through time.
This theme focuses on how words shape our perception of reality. Through analyses af non-fiction, discourse analysis and postcolonial theory, this theme will illustrate how different viewpoints on fx British colonialism and slavery has created different versions of the historical reality. Primarily we'll analyse non-ficition, but also a few instances of fiction. Also we've studied the history of the English Language and English as lingua franca as a result of colonisation.
Another angle for studying the the power of words through time is to look at historical and current events in America
