Forløbet søger at afdække amerikanernes forhold til våben og våbenlovgiving gennem både historiske og nutidige tekster. Der tages udgangspunkt i Hofstadters artikel, American Gun Culture, og inddrager de tre grunde til at amerikanerne ønsker adgang til våben.

Forløbet inddrager to film, dokumentarfilmen Under the Gun og fiktionsfilmen Elephant. Sidstnævnte omhandler skoleskyderiet på Columbine High og anvender en række spændende klippe- og fortælleteknikker.

Maskulinitet og overgansriter er vigtig del af våbenkulturen hvilket fremgår af teksten 'The Man Who Was Almost a Man', samt våben som "the great equalizer".

Forløbet kombinerer litterær analyse med aktuelle samfundsforhold gennem journalistiske artikler, dokumentarisk materiale og moderne spoken word-poesi.

Focus areas include campaign strategies, media coverage, key political topics (e.g., abortion, identity, polarization), and rhetorical analysis. Students read political speeches (e.g., Biden, Nikki Haley, Paxton), complete vocabulary exercises (Quizlet), and work on written assignments, including a personal or argumentative essay.

Course description: Shakespeare’s Macbeth

In this course, we explore Shakespeare’s *Macbeth* through close reading, performance, and contextual analysis. The focus is on language, structure, character development, and thematic depth. We also examine the historical and cultural background of the Elizabethan era, including the concept of the Great Chain of Being and iambic pentameter.

Students will analyze scenes in depth, translate key passages, and perform selected parts. The course also integrates vocabulary training, rhetorical devices, and literary terminology (e.g. soliloquy, dramatic irony, metaphor, imagery). In addition, students complete grammar exercises and write a literary analysis essay.
