Titel 11 Postcolonial Perspectives (EXAM)

Focus:

The focus of the course is aimed at how postcolonial nations and postcolonial literature in general seek ”to describe the interactions between European nations and the peoples they colonized” and how postcolonial literature in various ways deals with how ”colonialism has influenced the lives and mindsets of the colonizers as well as the colonized ” (quotes from Africa Unfold).

This means that we will be analyzing a variety of contemporary texts and genres about the postcolonial experience as well as reading classic colonial texts in order for us to get a sense of traditional colonialist and imperialist views.

Furthermore, the course has aimed at revisiting the concept of ‘English as a Lingua Franca’.
Communication, discourse, and prejudice are central concepts of the course.
