Titel 1 EXAM TOPIC Dystopia

In this course we will take a close look at the concept of dystopia or a dystopian society,  which describes an imaginary place, state, or society in which the condition of life is extremely bad, as from deprivation, oppression, or terror. It is the opposite of a utopia. During the course we will read excerpts from novels, which concern dystopian societies. The purpose of the course is to train the students in textual analysis, genre consciousness, and the analysis of movies.

Titel 2 EXAM TOPIC: South Africa

Course Objectives:
The students will be introduced to South Africa historically, culturally, and politically. We will read different genres, where the focus will mainly lie on Apartheid, Mandela’s role/importance for the country, and the reaction to his death in 2013. Throughout the course we will work with documentary, non-fiction, as well as fiction about historical and current topics regarding South Africa.

Titel 3 Evil - The Inherent Dualism in Man

I dette forløb stifter eleverne bekendtskab med begrebet ondskab og gennem forskellige tekster, både fiktion og sagprosa, diskuteres hvad ondskab er, hvor den kommer fra, og hvordan den kommer til udtryk. Forløbet centreres omkring en blog, som visuelt understøtter og skriftligt introducerer til de forskellige emner, tekster og film, som berører og omhandler ondskab. Blogformatet er valgt for at skabe gennemsigtighed og overblik – eleverne kan se, hvad de skal, og hvad forløbet indebærer fra start til slut.
I forløbet har vi fokus på sprogproduktion, sagprosa – og fiktionsanalyse samt integrering af grammatik i den daglige gennemgang af tekster. Der lægges desuden vægt på opbygning og anvendelse af ordforråd, herunder svære fagtermer og begreber, som forsøges anvendt i det daglige arbejde med tekster og i klassediskussioner.

The focus of this course is to enhance the students' understanding of the climate crisis and its influence on mankind and society and hereby give them the opportunity to reflect on the matter. During the course we will practice language proficiency and different analytical methods.

We are going to investigate what it means to be American and what values and rights they assign importance to. We will do this by looking into a  few contemporary issues (gun rights and abortion), and focus on the election, and analyse speeches, practise non-fiction analysis mostly, but also some fiction analysis.

Titel 6 EXAM TOPIC: Conspiracy Theories

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course introduced the students to the topic of conspiracy theories, along some famous conspiracy theories they had to present themselves. We focused a lot on the mock conpiracy theory "Birds aren't real" and its purpose. This course mainly focused on non-fiction texts and analysis of these, including videos from comedy talk shows and movies.  

A 5-paragraph essay was written on an article about the Birds aren't Real movement.

Titel 8 EXAM TOPIC: Horror

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course introduced the students to the horror genre, and Sigmund Freud's theory about the id, ego, and superego. The horror genre usually mirrors one or more of the following: human psyche, human nature, and society. This topic focused mostly on fiction texts and fiction analysis, and also focused on the ability to interpret a text and relate it to the topic.
An oral mock exam was also conducted to practise for the oral exam.

Students are introduced to the dystopian fiction genre and its characteristics. They are introduced to various texts and do close-readings and analyse/interpret. They have writing exercises and interpret various texts, and relate it to real-world dilemmas.
