Titel 5	THE RAJ Vi har set Queen Victoria's Empire: Passage to India (BBC) Trevor Noah: How the British Took Over India John Huston: The Man Who Would Be King Dave Walpole: The British Raj in India Klassen skrev en opgave med det specifikke fokus, at anskue Kiplings "The Man Who Would Be King" som en allegori over The Raj, og derved finde fejlene i Trevor Noahs kortfattede comedy-rutine over det britiske imperium i Indien. Opgaven skulle redegøre for East India Company fra 1600 til 1857, Sepoy-oprøret, og The Raj efter da. Som supplerende materiale fulle klassen inddrage Kiplings noveller "On the City Wall", "The Miracle of Purun Bhagat" og digtet "Mandalay". Derudover er forløbet brugt til engelsk som lingua franca.

Titel 6	POSTMODERNISM We went through the basic postmodernist terms: - pastiche – the mixing of various styles or genres, such as poetry, prose, journals, etc. - participation – in the sense that the reader is brought in to evaluate the outcome of the story, or the meaning of the story, which may not even be there. - intertextuality – in the sense, reference to other works of fiction or history. - metafiction – also called poioumena, a novel about the writing of a novel. - intrusive narrator; the narrator interrupts or comments on his own story. Has been seen in older novels (Swift, Fielding, Dickens). - non-linear (achronological) narrative And applied them to Wright's film version of Ian McEwan's "Atonement".

Svendsen's "Philosophy of Evil" (Demonic, instrumental, idealistic and stupid evil) are applied to the films and short stories, and the students write two papers; one on "Ripley" in which also David Hare's 20 tell-tale signs of psychopathy are included, and, at the end of the course, a paper which must include at least two of the works.

Titel 8	RHETORICS RHETORICS Klassen anvendte Lloyd Bitzers "The Rhetorical Situation" (artikel, 13 ns) og hans begreber (Exigence, mediators of change, constraints) som metode og analyserede dels Clarence Darrows forsvarstale for Leopold & Loeb i 1924, og dels Orson Welles ditto fra dramatiseringen "Compulsion" fra 1954. Klassen fik et tilføjende kompendium om retoriske termer (hjemmegjort, 7 ns) Klassen kiggede derefter på to artikler (non-fiction) fra tidligere eksamensopgaver. Vi kigger på ACTIO i Christine Blasey Fords anklagetale imod Brett Kavanaugh (2018) Klassen afleverede en retorisk analyse af forsvarstalen fra "Compulsion".
