Titel 1 Growing up EXAM

En kort og generel introduktion til faget og dets identitet samt analysemetoder. Bruges som springbræt til det første forløb Growing Up.

Hvad er fiktion og nonfiktion?
Hvilke hovedelementer har en skriftlig opgave?
Hvad er et plot diagram og hvordan kan den bruges?
Hvordan skriver man et resumé og laver en personkarakteristik?
Inkl.kreative øvelser med postkort, brev til sig selv, og interviews.

Tekster:
Introduktionen til faget kobles med forløbet 'Growing Up and relationships', hvor vi har fokus på hvordan børn/unge udvikler sig og hvilken rolle forældre spiller i denne udvikling.

Titel 2 Horror EXAM

Tematisk forløb om horror genren. I begyndelsen vil der være fokus på Freuds teori om det ubevidste og menneskets angst for døden. Undervejs i forløbet arbejder vi med vampyren, det psykologiske, psykopaten, spøgelseshistorien, det uhyggelige og menneskets frygt. Eleverne skal kunne sætter teksterne i korte træk i relation til deres samtid, og eleverne skal kunne definere genren og sammenligne den moderne horror med the gothic samt finde elementer fra denne i nutidens horror. I starten af forløbet ser eleverne desuden en række trailers som bruges som udgangspunkt for en genredefinition. Herudover skal eleverne også have bygget et relevant ordforråd til horror og derfor arbejder vi med Todorovs begreber som The Fantastical, The Marvelous, The Uncanny og Stephen King’s tre typer af gys: the gross-out, the horror, the terror. Herudover vil eleverne bruge begreber som ’the other’ og søge at definere typen af ’the other’ i teksterne.

Skriftlighed: Elever arbejder med at skrive deres egen gyserhistorie for at træne brug af virkemidler fra horror genren (f.eks. The gross-out, the terror, the horror, The Other) og fra tekstanalyse som setting, imagery, character, suspense. De får trænet ordforråd samt grammatik undervejs.

Titel 3 War and Conflict EXAM

How is war presented in media and what are the experiences of war? This course focuses on attitudes to war and is used as a supporting topic for the DHO-project.
This course trains students primarily in analyzing poetry and non-fiction. Students will continue to train written analysis too.

Titel 5 Dystopia EXAM

What is a utopia and a dystopia? Can both exist at the same time? In this course we'll read some dystopian fiction to assess how society can be altered through manipulation, fear and force and how in turn it can resist such developments. We'll also touch upon different real-world examples where dystopian elements and themes can be observed including The Soviet Union, Hitler's nazism, and Modi's India as well as the American system under Trump's second presidency. The push and pull factors of moving a democratic society toward autocracy or anarchism will be explored with the help of fictive and non-fictive texts listed below.

Titel 6 The British Empire and its colonies (exam)

The British Empire and the commonwealth - Australia, South Africa and India.

Dette forløb er underinddelt: det første handler om det britiske Imperium inkl. kolonien Australien med særligt fokus på The Aborigines og The Stolen Generation. Det andet handler om Sydafrika under Apartheid. Til slut er der en sammenligning med Indien.
Formålet med forløbene er at kursisterne opnår kendskab til Australiens og Sydafrikas historie, herunder forholdet til England, samt at de igennem tekster træner generelt ordforråd og begreber til tekstanalyse. Vi træner i løbet af forløbet analyse af forskellige teksttyper, herunder digte, noveller, film. Eleverne får også repeteret retorisk analyse med det retoriske pentagram, appelformer og retoriske virkemidler. Vi gennemgår også Engelsk som et lingua franca og hvordan sproget er med til at danne en identitet.
