Titel 2	1. Horror Fiction Through the Ages The purpose of this course on horror fiction is to familiarise the students with the characteristics of the genre. The study of classic texts from different literary eras provides the students with an insight into the development of the genre as well as universal and time specific elements. Students will get to do some close reading, develop their vocabularies and reflect on why we crave horror fiction. Titel 3

2. British Multiculturalism

This course is about British multiculturalism in the 21st century. It pivots on the idea of how to live with difference. The course centers on the intertwined notions of multiculturalism, race, ethnicity, identity and super-diversity. In the course, the students will be exposed to texts of many different genres: report, lecture, autobiography, history, short-story, poetry and short film. Students are asked to consider texts in dialogue with other texts in order to encourage reflection on similarities and differences in how to approach British multiculturalism. The course work engages students’ critical and creative responses and helps them improve their analytical and linguistic skills through both written and oral assignments.
