Lingua Franca is a so-called bridge language that helps people across the world to communicate with each other. However, English comes in many different shapes and sizes and you might even meet someone from Britain speaking English without you knowing what they are saying. Watch this clip, as example, from the British Parliament, and maybe you already know Uncle Roger? Therefore, accents and dialects can be confusing. Throughout the different assignments today, you will get to work with different accents, dialects, videos and transcription. Lingua Franca is furthermore about how English is spoken and how it has spread out across the world. Most importantly, Lingua Franca will be part of your exam, so be thorough.
