Australia and the stolen generations (EXAM)
The course on Australia is based on a historical overview from colonization to the challenges faced today. We focus especially on the colonial period and how the Stolen Generation became a phenomenon that continues to shape Australia’s history to this day. We also touch upon English as a lingua franca and the challenges this has created in relation to English being the official language alongside Aboriginal languages. In connection with lingua franca and ELF, we have also discussed career competences. The main focus areas of the course have been: imperialism, the Stolen Generation, languages, and cultural clashes.
