Increasing vocabulary (words and terms) within business language in English.

Introduction to the retail industry including the 4 p’s, “The five principles of Retail” and the evolution of retail.

To understand, apply knowledge and present an analysis of advertisements and company profiles.

Titel 4 The American Dream and Patriotism

Primary focus:

Forløbet tager udgangspunkt i ’The American Dream’ og giver en oversigt over udviklingen af Amerikanske værdier og patriotisme helt tilbage fra ”The Declaration of Independence” og frem til "the storming of the Capitol” i 2021. Hertil diskuteres de forskellige betydninger af begrebet ”The American Dream”, hvor nutidens middelklasse samt den tilhørende sammenkobling mellem materialisme og lykke omtales.

Hertil sammenkobles forløbet med genren "manuscript for a speech", hvor eleverne ud fra et kildesæt skriver om udviklingen af 'The American Dream' samt "what it takes to achieve the dream today".

Titel 5 Company Profile: Disney

Primary focus:

Examining the company 'the Walt Disney Company' (Disney) through a 'company profile', where we look at the political & cultural aspects, financial circumstances, and evolving characteristics of Disney produced movies.

During this topic we have examined the evolution of the Disney from its very beginning, connecting the ideas behind 'Disney World' to the values and ideologies of our previously discussed topic "The American Dream and Patriotism". Here we also examined the traits of 'Classic Disney' with focus on their first ever feature film: Snow White, 1937.

We have examined the financial aspects of Disney as a company - This included an insight into their marketing strategies, big financial descisions and how it might reflect contemporary artistic descisions 'on screen'.

In contrast to 'Classic Disney', we have examined how contemporary Disney movies take a different stance on topics of feminism, inclusiveness and body ideals, where the movie 'Moana'/'Vaiana' was our main point of analysis.

Furthermore, this topic included an assignment with focus on the genre analytical essay - non-fiction: Here we analyzed the way in which argumentation was used in the article "Disney Princesses do change girls - and boys, too" by KJ Dell'Antonia.

Titel 6 African American History - Emmett till to #BLM

During this topic we examined gained insight into African American History, starting off with the American Civil War and ending with the ongoing Black Lives Matter movement.

Focus points:
- The Civil War (Brief talk in class)
- The Constitution and the end of slavery
- Segregation and Jim Crow
- Civil Right figures of the 1950s and 60s.
- #BlackLivesMatter


We examined how real American historical periods, political descions and cultural circumstances of African Americans in the 19th and 20th century were reflected through poetry, short stories, speeches, advertizing and cartoons, looking at important historical and cultural figures such as Langston Hughes, Emmett Till, Martin Luther King Jr, Malcolm X and George Floyd.

With the Black Lives Matter movement we put our knowledge from the topic into perspective, and dicussed how historical events and cultural circumstances of the past can be connected to contemporary topics of Black Identity, racial stereotyping and political discussions of race.

During this topic with worked with two assignment genres, where we completed an analytical essay (fiction) on Joy Boothe's "Jesse" and an argumentative essay on the American Prison Industry.

Titel 7 Animal Farm (Værklæsning)

We read the novel “Animal Farm” By George Orwell.

The goal of this topic was to gain knowledge about the author George Orwell and his writing style. We examined the novel as an example of allegory and attempted to draw parallels to contemporary and modern events and discussions.

Furthermore, both analytical tools of fiction and non-fiction was used in order to examine the novel’s characters, setting and use of rhetoric, argumentation, fake news and propaganda.
