Eleverne opnår en forståelse af grundlæggende værdier, der har præget Amerika gennem historien og reflekterer over, hvordan disse værdier manifesterer sig i det moderne amerikanske samfund. Forløbet er særligt rettet mod oparbejdelse af kompentencer og begrber inden for non-fiction analyse.

Fairytales and Folk tales
Eleverne arbejder med genretræk og temaer i folkeeventyr og kunsteventyr. Vi arbejder med at udvide kendskebet til analytiske begrber inden for litterær analyse. Eeleverne introduceres til flere litterære læsemetoder ud over genrelæsninger for at give eleverne en begyndende forståelse af historiske læsninger, psykoanalytiske læsninger og strukturalistiske læsninger. Forløbet dækker både centrale europæiske folkeeventyr, der er velkendte i den engelsktalende verden, såvel som specifikt engelske folkeeventyr.

First World War in Literature (Eksamen)
Forløbet er lagt an på at eleverne får kendskab til 1. Verdenskrigs fænomenerne skyttegravskrig og granatchok. Der er endvidere lagt vægt på, at eleverne opnår kendskab til udviklingen inden for krigsdigtningen i perioden: fra patriotisme og "sportsmanship in war" til krigsmodstand og "the futility of war".
The focus is not so much on the politics of war, nor is it on the causes and outcomes of specific wars. Rather, it is the experience of war by the individual with the aim of gaining an understanding of the concept of war at a general level.
-How and by whom have young men been encouraged to go to war?
-How have they experienced the battlefield when at war?
-How do soldiers deal with readjustment to civilian life?
