The novel has been studied in the light of it being a testimony to - and a criticism of - its time.

Titel 2 US presidential election

Focus has been on non-fiction analysis. Students have worked project based in groups on producing a campaign video, choosing to represent either the Democrats or the Republicans. The class was first introduced to some general facts and information and then encouraged to do their own research. After the election the class worked on an analysis of Trump’s victory speech.

In this course we investigate and discuss the terms 'love' and 'gender roles', and how these have been portrayed in English literature from Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet' in the Renaissance to literature and non-fiction in the 21st century.

What norms and ideals exist, during these same periods, when speaking of gender roles?
