-
Dear gd. I look forward to meeting you all. Today you will be introduced to English at "gymnasiet" and the first theme of the year, "Rites of Passage".
-
Please look up the phrase "Rite of Passage". Write down an example of a rite of passage (for example from your own life, something you have seen in the media etc.) and bring it to class.
-
Please remember to bring a pencil and an eraser. Also think about a Rite of Passage from your own life.
-
Finish the "Ordklasser" exercise on page 32 in the compendium.
-
Reread the short story, p. 8-10 in the compendium. Use the glossary on page 10 to help with difficult words. You can listen to the text while you read it via this link: Indian Camp
-
Finish the questions on page 12 in the compendium.
-
Finish the 7 questions about the "Inside an Apache Rite of Passage into Womanhood"-documentary on the first page of the worksheet from the second module on Wednesday. Link to the video is on the worksheet as well.
-
Do the exercises on page 34 in the compendium C(1) and C(2).
-
Fill out the vocabulary document from yesterday's second module.
-
Bring the answers to questions 1-10 on page 16 in the Rites of Passage compendium and finish the exercise "literary devices in poetry" on minlæring.
-
Those of you who didn't do the homework on minlæring on literary devices in poetry, please do that. The link is here: Minlæring - lit devices poetry
-
Please bring with you those tasks you worked with in yesterday's learning stations.
-
Reread the introduction to Alice Walker on p. 17 in the compendium and look up any words you don't understand.
-
Then look at the definition of the literary term "mood" here (you can, but you don't have to read through all the examples, just the first seven lines): Mood - Examples and Definition of Mood as a Literary Device
-
Lastly, prepare the pre-reading 1 and 2 on page 17 for next time - write down keywords.
-
Read about summary (resumé) on minlæring and do the "sandt eller falsk om resuméer" exercise. Minlæring - Summary
-
Husk, som forberedelse til i dag, at læse det summary, som jeres kammerat fra bordgruppen har sendt til jer.
-
Listen to the speech again (you can speed up the pace in the video's settings, if you want to go through it more quickly): ‘You’ve got to find what you love,’ Jobs says and look up difficult words. The text is on page 26-28 in the compendium.

Vi mødes i U2
-
Find the US states quiz
-
Look at your notes from our class on the Steve Jobs speech. What is this type of speech called?
-
What is important to look at when analyzing a non-fiction text?
-
Also answer the question "what makes a speech a good speech?"
