Titel 1	School system in the UK In this unit we have talked about the school system in England, with focus on boarding schools/prep schools. Our focus has been on the downsides to a life in a boarding school. Through our material we have introduced the students to different genres and analyses of both fact and fiction. We have seen the documentary "The Making of Them" and read "The Happiest Days of Your Life" by Penelope Lively. Watched an episode of "The Crown: Paterfamilias" and read two articles; "The Uniform Approach" from "What's Up Britain" and "Boarding Schools can do tremendous harm..." from The Guardian. The students have also written their first analytical essay about the short film "New Boy": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdeioVndUhs

Titel 2	Commencement Addresses We have talked about the genre and focused on the rhetorical analysis of four speeches. Analytically we have talked about the rhetorical pentagon, rhetorical devices, Toulmin and modes of appeal. The work has been both in class and as group presentation. Titel 3	Raymond Carver + værklæsning We have worked with the genre of literary minimalism via Raymond Carver's short stories and an interview with him from 1995. Since "Lemonade" is a poem we talked a bit about Carver's poetry. Focus has been on the literary analysis of the short stories, through comparative analyses of the different stories in "Short Cuts". "Stories Don't Come Out of Thin Air" Interview with Claude Grimal 1995 "Neighbors" "They're Not Your Husband" "Vitamins" "Will You Please Be Quiet Please" "So Much Water So Close to Home" "Lemonade" (poem) Conclusive group work on the following titles - 4 groups were responsible for one story each: "A Small Good Thing" "Jerry and Molly and Sam" "Collectors" "Tell the Women We're Going"

Titel 4	Different Worlds This subject deals with different ways of life, different cultures and ideas. We have focused on the aboriginals of Australia and the Maori of New Zealand, as other English speaking country, and the idea of being caught between two cultures and the consequences of this. We have also talked about both history and mythology (The Myth of the Rainbow Serpent). Again we have worked on both fiction and non-fiction and also the cinematic analysis of a film. Work forms have been group work, pair work and individual work. Titel 6	America's Far Right During this topic we have talked about right and left in American history and politics. We have mainly focused on the far right and their views on fx abortion and guns. We have talked about the storm on Congress (January 6th 2021) and analysed a documentary about it. We concluded with the documentary "Bowling for Columbine" and exam-like group presentations.
