CONTENT
We look at elements and isotopes and learn how to read and use the periodic table of the elements. We learn to explain, define, use and examplify the key concepts below. We learn to write up chemical equations and balance them.

Proton, neutron, atom, atomic model (shell model), element, octet rule, chemical equation, electron, isotope, eletron structure, reactant, product, state.

Titel 2 Ions and ionic compounds

CONTENT
We learn about ions and the formation of ionic compounds. We learn how to determine the charges of the ions formed by the atoms of the main groups in the periodic table of the elements. We learn to define, explain, examplify and use the key concepts below. We take a short look at endothermic and exothermic reactions.

Ion, ionic lattice, solubility, ionic bond, ionic compound, exothermic, endothermic, solubility, precipitation, monoatomic ion, polyatomic ion, water of crystallization.

We learn about covalent bond and molecules. We learn about the structure of molecules. We look at polarity and and solubility and mixibility of covalent compounds. We learn to use, define, explain and examplify the key concepts below.

Titel 4 Chemistry calculations and mixtures

CONTENT
We do chemical calculations on molar mass, amout and mass. We learn how to calculate amounts by taking into accout the coefficients in a chemical equation. We look at the ideal gas equation. We look at heterogenous and homogeneous mixtures and the concept of molar concentration.We use, define, explain and examplify the concepts below.

KEY CONCEPTS
Density, amount, Avogadro's constant (6.02*10^23), formula mass, mole, equivalent amount, molar mass, mass, the ideal gas equation, ratio of amounts, limiting reactant. Homogeneous, heterogenous, % by mass, % by volume, molar concentration, volumetric flask, saturated solution.

An introduction to the basics of acids and bases. We learn about an analytical method called "titration". We use, define, explain and examplify the concepts below.
