Content:
Repetition of cell biology with emphasis on photosynthesis and respiration from NV
Examples of fermentation and decomposition processes as supplementary, not mandatory examples, page 271, The nitrogen cycle.
Ecosystems, abiotic and biotic factors.
Primary production (BPP=NPP+R). Plant nutrition, food chains, food webs and ecological effiency.
Trophic levels and pyramids of biomass or numbers.
Students will set up a simple experiment showing the effect of selected abiotic factors´effect on the
rate of photosynthesis measured as oxygen production.
Investigation of the Stenhus pond as an ecosystem.
The role of nitrate and phosphate in the ecosystem.
Experimentally - Planned:
- Photosynthesis in aquatic plants.
- Investigation of the nearby Stenhus-pond by using the "Macoroindex".
- Investigations of animals from Stenhus-pond with stereo-zoom microscopes.
