UK-1: from empire to Brexit - EKSAMEN

Vi arbejder med følgende emner: industrialisation, empire, heart of darkness, master race, historical empathy, decolonization, the Windrush generation, multiculturalism, euroscepticism og Brexit. Et stort tema herunder er desuden ELF, engelsk som lingua franca.
Konkrete kernetekster og supplerende materiale til hvert underemne er udspecificeret herunder.
Undervejs i forløbet arbejdes med grammatik: artikler, proprier, kollektiver og kongruens.
Skriftligt arbejde: analytical essay om Kit de Waals short story "May the Best Man Win".

ELF - English as Lingua Franca:
Med udgangspunkt i sproghistorien afdækker vi bl.a. begreber som bad English, standard English and Received Pronunciation, American English og Black English, Global English, Un-English, Hinglish, Danglish og corporate English. Vi drøfter forskelle mellem American-English og British-English og lytter til udvalgte globale dialekter og taler også om engelsk som arbejdssprog i EU.
Eleverne arbejder med både skrevne tekster og mundtlige eksempler på accenter og dialekter samt non-native speakers bestræbelser ud i det engelske sprog.
I slutningen af forløbet udarbejder eleverne en selvstændig præsentation af den viden, de har erhvervet sig undervejs.
