Titel 2 Fantasy and British Identity

Study Plan.
The course “Fantasy and British Identity” combines the work of British authors C.S. Lewis and J.K. Rowling with British customs and characteristics as they are often traditionally viewed.
As the course progresses, we will focus on British traditions and their origin as well as how these can and have been used as the backdrop for two of the most popular fantasy stories of all times “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe” and “Harry Potter” (more specifically during this course“Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire”).
The movie adaptations of these fantasy stories will be subject to analyses based on our initial work with British identity as well as movie analysis methods and fantasy theory.
By the end of this course the students must therefore be able to:
- Recognize traditional British values and characteristics
- Incorporate the characteristics of fantasy fiction in the analysis of fantasy stories
- Use suitable technical terms when analysing fantasy movies
- Engage in discussions about the effect of combining magic with real life in literature

Curriculum.

Titel 3 Dystopia

Study plan.
During the course “Dystopia” the students are introduced to four different stories written from 1948 to 2008. The analyses will furthermore be subject to discussions about the connections the stories have to the time in which they were written and their relevance today.
By the end of this course the students must therefore be able to:

- Analyze and interpret dystopian literature while incorporating their knowledge about the dystopian genre
- Put dystopian literature into perspective of the time in which they were written
- Engage in a discussion about the relevance of dystopian literature

Brug templaten!
Grammatik

Mahler page 2, lines 3-4.
- Nyttige forkortelser: Page = p., pages = pp., line = l., lines =ll.
- PEE (point, example, explanation)

- Oxford Learner’s Dictionaries https://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/
