Titel 3 SRP1: Gender equality + speech analysis

In this course, we focus firstly on the theme of gender equality and secondly on speech analysis. The course is a shared one with social studies (SRP1).
Emma Watson's speech at the UN (2014) functions as the central object for analysis in class and in a written group assignment. In addition to this, there will be a focus on writing and presenting TED talks on gender equality in groups.

In this topic we focus on different types of crimes and different punishments. We will also investigate The Declaration of Human Rights in order to understand which actions could be considered a crime agains a human being.

The main goals in these lesson have been reading and analyzing non-fiction and practice in presenting analysis, personal viewpoints and discussion - verbally.

Titel 8 Diversity and Belonging in Britain

Aspects of Britain as a multicultural society are the focus of this course. A brief introduction to the history of immigration to the country and the effect of this serves as point of departure for working with various texts with a focus on aspects such as the function of literature, diversity, sense of belonging, mixtures of identities, inclusion, hidden forms of racism, xenophobia and the three models of integration.

Titel 13 Macbeth (EKSAMEN)

In this course, we focus on the world view in the Elizabethan Age - in particular "the great chain of being" and how this is mirrored in Shakespeare's play "Macbeth". In our study of Macbeth, themes such as ambition, revenge and character development are central while we also work with aspects of the language of the play. We watch Kurzel's adaptation of the play and draw parallels to the contemporary American series "House of Cards".

In this course we focus on Brexit. Firstly we concentrate on causes of Brexit and the campaigns leading up to the referendum. Secondly we turn to Brexlit and how Brexit and the consequences of this are thematised in various texts.

Central themes are: division, disunion, poverty and social class, inequality, xenophobia, identity, centre-vs-periphery and marginalisation, language and power.
