Titel 3 Australia (Exam)

The unit focuses on Australia :-)
Especially focusing on the relations between the aboriginal and the "white" population, the Australian language (English as LF) but also environmental issues and Australia's unique fauna.
A lot of the work done in this unit has focused on the student's research (reading) and presentation skills, with the students learning how to analyse infographics (mainly from UN's Sustainable development goals)  and creating+ presenting their own  infographics on environmental impact on Australia. (thinks burning Koalas)
The students also investigated and presented information on Australian history and culture (see Webquest below:), and finally the students practiced formal debate using the motion: The Australian state needs to do more for its indigenous population.

Titel 6 Divided states of America + pres. election (Exam)

The unit focuses on the American politiccal system, mainly through the Icivcs game Win the White house (and teacher lectures - I also teach History), and socio-economic divisions, US presidential election 2024, and the inauguration of Donald Trump as president in 2025.

The unit includes the first chapters af "værklæsning" Hunger games, since the analysis of the first chapters of the novel focused on the divisions in society shown in Panem, and how this parallels the sense of rift and "dystopia" expressed by many because of Donald Trump's election win.
The unit also adresses English As LF in relation to president Trump's repeated interest in aquiring Greeland, with the students researching and debating the influence of the English language in Greeland. ( with links back to English as LF in digital dilemmas with "English as the language of the internet")

Titel 7 The Hunger Games and dystopian fiction (Exam)

Værklæsning: Hunger Games

The class has read Suzanne Collins: the Hunger Games, with a focus of dystopian fiction, with science fiction as a comment on/critique of society, with a focus/parallel to the current political situation in USA.

The novel has thus been linked to the dystopian fiction elements from Digital Dilemmas
- Black Mirror, Nosedive
- Ex Machina

and to the divisions in American society and current US politics from the unit Divided states of America, especially the texts:
- J. D. Vance: Hilbilly Elegy (working class status and identity as opposed to the political elites in the capital, Appalachia)

normalsider: 300
- Margret Atwood: Handmaids Tale, chapter 5 (also dystopian fiction)

Titel 8 Gender -in the UK (Exam)

Texts with focus on Gender & Sexuality and UK society and class.
The unit ties in with the class' participation in Zonta's Goal 5 workshop on gender and the UN sustainable development goal 5: Gender Equality.
The Handmaid's tale works as a "bridge" between the 3 units: Politics in the US, Værklæsning: The Hunger Games, and this gender unit.
in terms of UK, we have looked at gender expectations and tradition vs. modernity in relation to the British royal family, and tradwives, but also the recent debate sparked by "Adolescence", and the "problematic nature" of the Christmas "classic" Love Actually.

Fiction, poetry, non-fiction and film analysis. Metaphors and figurative language, symbols. Practicing the oral exam.

Titel 10 No Future - Punk Music and Punk Mind (Dicte 1x)
